Gazebo with lighting and dark brown walls No. 25-28

In short: Gazebo with lighting No. 25-28 is a wooden gazebo coated in dark brown, with a mono-pitch roof whose wide overhang holds three recessed round lights. Sliding glass is set in at the front and on both sides, the interior walls and floor are a light honey color, and a paved area has been laid in front of the gazebo. The size, finishing and equipment are agreed with each customer individually.

A gazebo with lighting that lives on after dark

Most gazebos are designed for daytime. Once the sun goes down they stay dark, and the owners bring candles, flashlights or extension cords with lamps. In this example the evening was thought of in advance: three round lights are recessed into the wide roof overhang, right above the glass. After dusk they light the front wall, the glass and the area in front of the gazebo.

Such lighting changes how the gazebo is used. On a summer evening you can sit in the area for a long time, because the light falls from above and does not dazzle. When you come and go, you can see where to step. And seen from the house, a lit gazebo in the yard looks like a cozy, inviting place even when nobody is in it.

The photo was taken on a sunny spring day, so the lights are off, but their positions in the roof overhang are clearly visible. The gazebo stands in a newly landscaped yard: in front is a wide area of light gray paving blocks, on the left a greenhouse with a green building behind it, and on the right a garden with fruit trees and a fence.

The floor of the gazebo is raised only slightly above the paving blocks, so you step inside almost without a step, which is convenient both for older people and when carrying furniture. From the side you can see that most of the roof projects forward, so a deep shelter forms above the glass. This is very important: the lights and the glass stay under the roof, and rain reaches them only in strong wind.

A gazebo with lighting suits especially those who work during the day and have free time only in the evenings. In autumn and spring it gets dark early, so without light the gazebo would stand unused for most of the evening. With lights it becomes a place where you can spend time after work. Even a short half hour with a cup of tea in a lit gazebo helps you unwind after a long day.

Three lights in the roof overhang

The roof overhang of this gazebo is wide, and from below it is clad with wooden boards. It is into these boards that the lights are recessed – they do not protrude, so they cannot be seen from afar and do not spoil the clean roofline. By day they are barely noticeable, and in the evening they create an even band of light along the whole front.

Recessed lights have several advantages:

  • they are protected from rain, because they are under the roof overhang;
  • the light falls downward, so it does not dazzle or disturb the neighbors;
  • they take up no space on the walls, where you can hang something else;
  • together with the dark brown overhang they create a tidy, contemporary look.

If you want similar lighting, you must say so when ordering. The route of the wires, the positions of the lights and the place of the switch have to be planned while the gazebo is still being made, and the installation is best entrusted to an electrician. Also think about whether you will need light inside, sockets or outdoor lights by the path. Laukbaldis also makes wooden lamps – you will find examples in the section wooden lamps, shelves and cabinets.

Dark brown walls and a light interior

The exterior walls are coated with a dark, rich finish in a walnut or coffee color. It brings out the pattern of the wood – the rings and knots are clearly visible in the boards. The dark color gives the gazebo solidity and goes well with the brown roof metal.

The interior is completely different. Through the glass you can see that the inner walls and the floor are left a light honey color. Because of this contrast the gazebo looks like a box with a bright inside: dark and calm on the outside, warm and light within. In the evening, when the lights come on, the contrast becomes even stronger.

This color combination suits modern houses with dark window frames or wooden facade cladding especially well. A dark gazebo in the yard looks calm and solid, does not push itself into the foreground, and therefore also goes well next to bright flower beds or a green lawn.

A dark coating also has practical advantages worth knowing about when choosing a color. Dust and rain marks show less on it, and in summer it hides natural changes in the shade of the wood well. Still, dark walls heat up more in the sun than light ones, so on the south side the protective coating may need renewing more often.

Glass on three sides and a door at the side

At the front are large sliding glass panes in dark frames, which take up almost the whole wall. There is glass on the left side too, and on the right side a glass door and one more pane of glass. As a result the interior is bright, and from the gazebo you can see both the yard and the garden.

Inside, the photo shows only a low small table or a bench. The gazebo is not yet furnished, so its space is clearly visible: a light floor, even walls and plenty of room for furniture. On the inner wall you can see an electrical socket, another sign that electricity was thought of in advance.

The glass is set between large vertical timbers painted the same dark color as the walls. These timbers not only hold up the roof but also frame the glass like picture frames, so each pane looks like a separate view of the yard.

The glass door on the right side lets you enter the gazebo without moving the large front panes. This is handy on a cooler day when you want to keep the warmth inside: you come in through the side door, and the front stays closed. On a warm day you can open everything and the gazebo becomes almost open.

A paved area in front of the gazebo

In front of the gazebo a wide area of light gray paving blocks has been laid, which also wraps around one side. It extends the floor of the gazebo outdoors: with the glass opened, chairs and a table can be carried straight onto the paving blocks. It is convenient to put a grill, loungers or planters on the area.

The area also helps with looking after the gazebo. Mud and grass do not collect on the paving blocks, so less sand gets carried inside. Rainwater from the roof falls on the paving blocks rather than on the lawn, so puddles do not form by the walls.

If you plan a similar area, think about how big it will need to be and how it will connect with the paths. The area is usually laid by other tradespeople, so it is worth agreeing its position and height with the gazebo foundation in advance.

In the evening the lights in the roof overhang also illuminate part of the area, so you can sit there cozily even after dark. In this way the gazebo and the area become a single evening space that needs no extra lamps.

What to discuss when ordering a gazebo with lighting

Lighting is one of those details that are easiest to plan at the start and hardest to add later. To make the conversation useful, think about the following before you call:

  • Where you will need light. Only at the front under the roof, or also inside, on the terrace and by the path?
  • How many lights. There are three in the photo, but a longer gazebo may need more.
  • How the light will be controlled. A switch inside, at the entrance or in the house.
  • Which sockets you will need. For a kettle, a speaker, a heater or phone charging.
  • Where the cable will come from. It is easiest to lay it from the house to the gazebo at the same time as paths or an area.

The color is worth discussing too. A dark exterior with a light interior is only one option. You can also choose a lighter exterior or a darker interior, depending on the house and the other buildings in the yard.

On its website Laukbaldis shows only typical examples, and the size, finishing and equipment are agreed individually. For comparison, look at the modern gazebo with a mono-pitch roof No. 25-36 and the white gazebo with a mono-pitch roof No. 25-27. You will find all our work in the section wooden gazebos.

Clean the tracks of the sliding glass of sand, which is easily carried in from the paving blocks, and inspect the dark walls every spring, especially on the sunny side. UAB “Laukbaldis” has been making wooden products since 1996 and, according to the company, was the first in Lithuania to start making this production.
