In short: Gazebo with a fireplace No. 16-6 is an open wooden gazebo with a brick fireplace built in the back corner. The shingle roof is held up by sculptural natural trunks, a low fence of knotty branches is built on one side, and benches made of sawn logs stand inside and around. The size, finishing and equipment are agreed with the customer individually.
A gazebo with a fireplace: fire under a wooden roof
Fire always draws people. They sit by it, talk and warm up on a cool evening. In this gazebo a permanent place is set aside for fire: in the back corner stands a brick fireplace of red bricks with an opening and a shelf above it. It becomes the heart of the gazebo, around which all the life revolves.
A gazebo with a fireplace extends the outdoor season. On a May evening, when the sun has set and the air has cooled, or in September, when the nights get colder, the warmth of the fireplace lets you stay outdoors longer. The fire also creates a cozy light, so bright lamps are not needed in the evening.
Note that the gazebo is open. It has no glass or closed walls around the table, so smoke disperses freely and the air inside stays fresh. In the fireplace corner the gazebo is closed with a wooden wall that holds back the wind and shields the fire from gusts.
The photo was taken in spring: the trees are only just coming into leaf, and the gazebo stands on a paved area by a fence with white posts. Beyond the fence a field and the edge of a forest are green. There are no plants around yet, so the whole structure of the gazebo and its furniture can be seen clearly.
A brick fireplace in the back corner
The fireplace is built of bricks and set into the back corner of the gazebo. At the front you can see an opening for the fire, and above it a wooden shelf on which you can put candle holders, cups or a supply of firewood. The color of the bricks is warm and pinkish, so the fireplace goes well with the shade of the wood.
The fireplace is not just a source of warmth. It also becomes a visual accent toward which the eye turns on entering the gazebo. The massive masonry contrasts with the light trunks and the branch low fence, so the gazebo looks varied and interesting.
When planning a fireplace in a gazebo, safety comes first. The solutions for the fireplace, the chimney and the surrounding wood must be discussed in advance, and the masonry work entrusted to qualified craftsmen. Enough room must be left beside the fireplace so that people sit at a safe distance from the fire. Before lighting a fire, always check that the chimney is clean.
What size and shape of fireplace you need is worth discussing when you order. Some people want only a small fireplace for coziness, others one on which they can cook or warm up food. The size of the fireplace, the shape of the opening and the chimney solution depend on that.
Sculptural trunks and a branch low fence
The roof is held up by natural peeled trunks. The central front trunk stands out most: thick at the bottom, at the top it divides into two powerful branches that hold up the roof beam. Knots and the pattern of growth rings can be seen on its surface, so the trunk looks like a sculpture. Against the light wood the darker places where branches grew stand out clearly, and in the sun the surface takes on a warm, almost golden shade. The other trunks are curved too, with branches and natural bumps.
Small round shelves are fixed to some of the trunks. It is handy to put a cup or a candle on them, so you do not have to carry them from the table. Small details like these appear when craftsmen work with natural wood and make use of its shape.
On the right side there is a low fence of upright knotty branches. It marks the edge of the gazebo but does not block the view. The branches are fixed between horizontal crossbars, so the low fence is sturdy. It stops you from stepping onto the flower bed or the edge of the lawn by accident, and at the same time recalls old country fences. The left and front sides are left open, so you can enter the gazebo from several places.
Natural trunks are different every time, so two absolutely identical gazebos like this do not exist. The craftsmen select wood of similar thickness, but its pattern is always unique.
Log benches and a table
The furniture of the gazebo is no less interesting than the gazebo itself. Inside stand a table with a top of boards and benches whose seats are made of sawn logs and whose supports are parts of curved trunks. Benches like this are massive and stable, and their form repeats the bends of the trunks.
Benches made of sawn logs on short log legs have also been placed around the gazebo. One stands on the left, another in front on the paving. It is handy to sit down on them for a moment or put things down.
Log benches are sturdy outdoors: a thick log does not wobble, and the wind does not carry it off. They can be left outdoors all year round, but it is worth making sure the seat surface is coated with a protective product so that it dries quickly after rain. If a bench stands on the lawn, it is useful to put a slab or a stone under it so that the bottoms of the logs do not touch damp ground.
UAB “Laukbaldis” also makes solid oak outdoor furniture, so the table and benches can be ordered together with the gazebo and their style matched. Furniture of solid oak is created by experienced craftsmen, and the branches and natural curve of the wood make every piece unique.

Who an open gazebo with a fireplace suits
An open gazebo with a fireplace is most useful to those who like to spend evenings outdoors. It suits a homestead where guests often visit, a rural tourism place or a large yard where you want one permanent gathering place. The fireplace gives the gazebo a clear purpose: it is used not only for eating but also for warming up, talking and watching the fire.
- For summer evenings, when it cools down after sunset.
- For spring and autumn celebrations, when it would be too cool outdoors without warmth.
- For gatherings of friends, when everyone wants to be together by the fire.
- For quiet evenings with a book and a cup of tea.
When choosing a spot, think about the prevailing wind. It is best to turn the fireplace corner so that the wind blows into the closed wall and not into the fireplace opening. It is also important that the smoke does not go toward the windows of the house or the neighboring plot. In the photo the gazebo stands in an open place, away from other buildings, which is a good solution.
Plan a place for firewood by the gazebo. It must be dry and close at hand, but not too near the fire. You will find examples of similar shelters and sheds in the section sheds, garages and shelters.
A gazebo with a fireplace can become a place of family traditions too. In it you can meet summer at Midsummer, celebrate an autumn harvest festival or just sit by the fire every weekend. Moments like these are remembered for a long time, and the gazebo becomes the place in the yard associated with the best memories.
Ordering and care
Laukbaldis shows only typical examples, so before calling think about:
- The place of the fireplace. In which corner it will stand and where the chimney will be.
- The closed sides. Which side to close with a wall so that the wind does not blow into the fire.
- Size. How many people will sit at the table and how much room will remain by the fireplace.
- The base. A fireplace needs a firm, non-combustible base, which is discussed separately.
Outdoor wood suffers most from moisture and the sun. Once a year inspect the bottoms of the trunks and the branches of the low fence. If the surface has turned pale or rough, renew the protective coating made for exterior wood. Clean the ashes out of the fireplace regularly and check the chimney. Remove leaves and twigs from the roof.
You will find more examples in the section wooden gazebos. Similar works are the gazebo with a stove No. 25-24, the gazebo with a chimney No. 25-14 and the natural-wood gazebo No. 16-1. Look for furniture in the section oak garden and outdoor furniture.
