Dark brown gazebo with glass at the edge of a forest No. 25-55

Dark brown gazebo with glass at the edge of a forest No. 25-55

In short: Gazebo with glass No. 25-55 is a dark brown wooden gazebo with a hip roof, glazed at the front and on the side, with a narrow wooden edge by the glass. Inside you can see a solid table and a bench with curved legs, and the roof protects from sun and rain. The size, finishing and equipment are agreed with each customer individually.

A gazebo with glass where the lawn ends

In the photo the gazebo stands at the edge of a wide, tidy lawn, and behind it a mixed forest begins: drooping birch branches, tall spruces and pines. In a spot like this a structure should not compete with nature, so a dark brown wood color was chosen. It recalls the bark of tree trunks and the shadows under the spruces, so the gazebo looks like a natural part of the forest edge.

On the left of the frame you can see a farm building and a car, and on the right an open stretch of meadow. The gazebo is placed so that one side of the glass looks toward the yard and the other toward the green lawn and the wall of the forest. Sitting inside, the view through the glass is like a large painting that every season colors differently: light green birch leaves in spring, yellow ones in autumn, and snow on the spruce branches in winter.

A gazebo with glass at the edge of a forest is good for more than summer evenings. In early spring, when snow still lies in the forest but the sun is already warm, you can drink tea and listen to the birds in the enclosed gazebo. In autumn it is a convenient place to sit down after picking mushrooms or a walk in the woods, take off wet boots and rest at the table. The roof protects from rain and the glass from the wind, which can be raw in open places near a forest.

Dark brown wood and a scaled roof

The whole exterior of the gazebo, including the walls, posts, beams and eaves, is covered with a dark brown finish through which the grain of the wood is still visible. The horizontal boards of the left wall form a calm, even pattern, and the dark glass frames blend in with the wood. As a result the facade looks unified and solid.

The hip roof is covered with brown tiles whose pattern resembles scales. A covering like this gives the roof life: from far away it looks plain, and up close you can see a fine, rhythmic pattern. The roof edges project beyond the walls, so rain runs off further from the glass and the edge of the floor.

A dark color has one more advantage: it shows small bits of dirt, pollen or fine needles that fall from the trees less. At the edge of a forest that matters especially, because the wind always carries something off the trees.

A table with curved legs, seen through the glass

The gazebo is glazed at the front and on the right side. The large panes let you see inside well: there stands a light wooden table and a bench with curved, solid legs. Light furniture inside a dark gazebo creates a pleasant contrast and immediately shows how cozy it can be to sit here.

Furniture with naturally curved forms like this goes with the overall mood of the structure. UAB “Laukbaldis” makes its furniture from solid oak, and the knots, grain and natural curve of the wood make each piece unique. Whether the gazebo will have furniture, and what kind, is agreed when you order. The furnishing in the photo is only one of the options.

The sliding glass lets you choose how to use the gazebo:

  • on a hot summer day you can slide the glass aside and sit as if in an open gazebo, feeling the coolness of the forest;
  • on a windy spring or autumn evening you close the glass and can sit longer at the table;
  • in the rain the gazebo turns into a cozy room from which you watch the rain through the glass.

A narrow wooden edge and posts with braces

The floor of the gazebo is raised above the ground, and at the front and on the side a narrow wooden edge projects. It acts as a low step: it is easy to step onto, and before going in you can wipe your boots or briefly set down a bag. The boards of the edge are slightly lighter than the walls, so a soft lighter line forms at the bottom, separating the gazebo from the green lawn.

The edge of the roof is held up by square timber posts, joined at the top to the beams by diagonal braces. At the front facade one such post also stands right in the middle, so the glass wall is divided into two parts. The braces give the structure strength and form the familiar silhouette of wooden architecture, which goes well with a forest setting.

The left end of the gazebo is covered with dark horizontal boards. This wall protects from the wind from that side and gives the interior coziness, because not all sides are open to view.

The closed wall can be put to practical use too: it is convenient to put a cabinet for dishes against it, or to hang shelves or a lamp. Laukbaldis also makes cabinets, shelves and lamps, so the interior of the gazebo can be furnished with products from one maker that will match each other.

What to think about when building a gazebo by a forest

The edge of a forest is one of the most beautiful places for a gazebo, but it has its own peculiarities. Before ordering, it is worth considering a few things:

  • The distance to the trees. The closer the trees, the more leaves and needles will fall on the roof and into the glass tracks. The gazebo in the photo stands a little away from the wall of the forest, on the open lawn.
  • Shade and moisture. Near a forest the air is often damper, and the grass stays wet with dew longer. A raised floor helps protect the wood from ground moisture, and the base must be level and dry so that water does not collect under the gazebo after rain.
  • The direction of the glass. Think about which way you want to look while sitting: toward the forest, toward the yard or both. That decides which walls are glass and which wooden.
  • A path. If you have to walk across the lawn to reach the gazebo, it is worth planning a path so that it is comfortable to come even after rain.
  • Size and furniture. Decide how many people will usually sit at the table and whether extra furniture will need space inside.

If you are comparing several options, take a look at the glazed gazebo at the edge of a pine forest No. 24-3, the garden gazebo with a walnut-colored finish and the gazebo with furniture and a lamp No. 25-18. You will find all the examples in the section wooden gazebos, and solid furniture in the section oak garden and outdoor furniture.

Caring for dark wood in shade and sun

Outdoor wood suffers most from moisture and the ultraviolet rays of the sun. A dark protective coating hides the aging of the wood well, but it also needs renewing. On the sides lit by the sun the color fades faster, so every spring it is worth comparing the sunny and the shaded sides of the gazebo. If one of them has faded noticeably or water no longer beads up, it is time to coat the surface with a product made for exterior wood.

Near a forest, more attention should go to the roof and the glass tracks. Leaves, needles and small twigs collect in the corners of the roof and in the glass tracks, so they should be cleared at least several times a season. Clean tracks let the glass slide easily, and a clean roof dries faster after rain.

As natural wood dries, small cracks may appear. This is a normal phenomenon that usually does not harm the strength of the structure. Even so, it is worth inspecting the bottoms of the posts and the brace joints every year, because water stays longest in these places. Wash the glass with ordinary window cleaners, preferably on an overcast day so that no streaks remain.

It is advisable to sweep the narrow edge of the floor regularly so that damp leaves do not sit on it. After a longer rainy period air the gazebo: opening the glass lets the floor and furniture dry faster.

How to start an order

UAB “Laukbaldis” has worked since 1996 and, as the company states, was the first in Lithuania to start making this production. The company is based in Dapkiškių village, Tauragės district. The website shows only typical examples, so this gazebo can be adapted to your plot.

An order starts with a phone call to +370 687 25388. Quote the product number No. 25-55 and tell us where the gazebo will stand: next to a forest, in a garden or by the house. Together you will discuss the size, the color of the wood, the glazing, the roofing and whether you would also like to order furniture. If you have photos of your plot, have them ready in advance, as it makes agreeing the details easier.

Do not hesitate to ask about changes: a different size, an additional glass wall, a lighter shade of wood or a different roofing. A gazebo with glass is made according to the agreed solutions, so the final result will suit your plot and not just the photo.

Frequently asked questions

Can a gazebo with glass be ordered in a lighter color?

Yes, the dark brown color in the photo is only one of the options. The shade of the wood, like the other finishing solutions, can be discussed when you order.

Which sides of the gazebo are glazed?

In the photo the glass is fitted at the front and on the right side, while the left end is covered with boards. The position and amount of glass can be adapted to your plot.

Are the table and bench included?

In the photo you can see a table and a bench with curved legs inside, but furniture is discussed separately. Laukbaldis makes solid oak garden furniture, so it can be ordered together with the gazebo.

Is it worth building a gazebo right next to a forest?

It can be done, but near trees more leaves and needles will fall on the roof and into the glass tracks. So it is worth leaving some open space and cleaning the roof more often.

How often should the dark wood coating be renewed?

It depends on how much sun the gazebo gets. Inspect the walls every spring, and if the color has faded or the wood absorbs water, renew the surface.

How do I order gazebo No. 25-55?

Call us and quote No. 25-55. We will discuss the size, color, glazing and the place on your plot.
